Urbandale Physical Therapy is a private physical therapy practice located in Battle Creek, Calhoun County, Michigan. The practice opened in 1999 and has become known in the community for everything from sports rehabilitation to treatment for neurological disorders.

Dr. Williams, our physical therapist, has 30 years of experience in physical therapy and holds a clinical Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the prestigious Widener University, Chester-PA which was one of the first 10 in the country to offer a clinical Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. According to the American Physical Therapy Association the Doctor of Physical Therapy is the preferred degree in physical therapy. The Association’s “Vision 2020” statement says:

“By 2020, physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are doctors of physical therapy, recognized by consumers and other health care professionals as practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access for the diagnosis of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities related to movement, function, and health.”

Dr. Williams has treated hundreds of patients, but customizes the therapy regimen for each person with clinical “know-how.” He starts with a conversation with you to help him determine why you have come to the practice. This includes obtaining a patient history, performing relevant systems reviews, and selecting and administering specific tests and measurements to obtain data. This helps him with his evaluation, and making clinical judgments based on the data gathered during the examination which assists in the development of a treatment plan for you.
Dr. Williams and his team will be presenting a series of “Working Wellness” seminars on a variety of wellness topics.

Known for his competence, compassion and sense of humor, Dr. Williams’ patients especially appreciate his encouragement during the beginning of their treatment, when they wonder if they will ever feel like themselves again. His patients say that he demonstrates an understanding of the social, family and cultural issues which are affecting them, and the role that each plays in their recovery. Dr. Williams is respected for his professionalism by his physical therapy colleagues on several continents. Dr. Williams provides services that are based on the best available evidence in all areas of clinical practice, including physical therapy examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, prevention activities, and wellness. He critically evaluates new or evolving theories and technologies which are relevant to the practice of physical therapy.

His practice has state of the art equipment. His manual skills are in Mckenzie mechanical diagnosis and therapy of the spine where he has certifications in Parts A,B.C and D. He is also certified in Myofascial techniques and Graston’s technique which is instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation.
